By Rail

Ayrshire is perhaps the best connected non city destination in Scotland. Acting as it does as a home for many working in Glasgow the rail routes and services have developed greatly over the past few years and this benefits the traveller equally.

If arriving at Prestwick Airport you have direct access to the twice hourly (and more) service north to Glasgow and south to Ayr. This route gives the visitor direct access to Prestwick and Ayr as well as Troon, Barassie and Irvine to the north.

If arriving at Glasgow Airport you can take the train to Ayrshire from Paisley and you could be at your destination in less than half an hour and in that thirty minutes you'll pass the wonderful links courses of Bogside, Gailes Links, Western Gailes, Dundonald, Barassie, Darley, Portland and Troon, Prestwick and finally Prestwick St Nicholas! An almost unbroken stretch of historic golfing land either side of a railway track! Great Golfing Train journeys of the world indeed!
